Deacon Brodies Tavern (Nicholson's) (Old Town)

• Nice relaxed feel downstairs with a more restauranty area upstairs
• Bar staff are friendly with a good selection on tap
• I had a scotch egg here which was pretty good
• It has been put up very close to the spot where Deacon Brodie is believed to have lived at one point of time
• His real life story is the inspiration for R L Stevenson's "
• The rooms downstairs are the pub and the upstairs is for food
• Excellent menu variety and food was lovely and good ambience
• Was a busy night but the waitress was helpful and attentive
• All the sauces were very nice and service was very good
• A large meal and the ham was the standout
• I remember eating haggis in Glasgow back in 2005 in a pub on what was the known as the haggis day or Burns night (January 25)
• Interestingly it was a much more quiet affair but probably because either locals will eat it at home or not especially eat it on that evening
• Homemade nachos with gaucomole and salsa and offcouse the haggis
• The nachos were also very fresh and delicious
• The whiskies in the window are certainly eye catching
• The real ale was exactly that
• The tavern is very beautiful
