The Coal Hole (Strand)

• A nice little pub not far from Charing Cross station with an olde worlde feel about it
• While much of the interior decor feels like it probably was a little kitsch even in the Victorian era it has a nice sheltering feel about it against the cold wind generally blowing down the Strand
• It was also the actor Richard Harris's preferred drinking spot during the last years of his life when he was holed up down the road in the Savoy
• Fish and chips etc (Which is perfectly fine)
• You can get a pint of Thwaites Nutty Black at the bar and there is a good selection of ales
• I had trepidations about meeting here before a night out as someone told me it was small but I hoped it might be able to squeeze us in
• Once I made my way through the scrum at the door there was quite an empty space behind the bar
• The pub itself was larger than I expected but had the &lsquo
• Our first meal in London was at The Coal Hole
• The fish n chips were good along with the fresh peas
• My husband ordered a burger and what arrived was a double meat stacked on a bun with BBQ sauce
• The Coal Hole on the other side of the Strand Palace Hotel on the Strand in a two level cozy puib with a good selection of drinks and a late kitchen offering good food and salads as pictured
