Encant (Covent Garden)

• The room is quite dark and the background music filled with rap instrumentals
• About half the seats are dedicated to bar seating
• I had the entire menu (minus oysters which they were out of) that was listed that day of about 11 items
• Smoke works well with a fish as oily as sardine
• A salad of a wakame like seaweed encased in avacado and served with piquillo sauce
• Very popular combination of ingredients and flavors here with a poached duck egg
• Goat's Cheese Croquetas (7/10) As opposed to the last dish these were extremely adequately salted
• The interior was on the edge of liquidity and just how I like my croquetas
• Crispy Tiger Prawns (8/10) These guys are really good at frying things
• Perfectly done prawns with a really unique style of breading / crusting them
• Let's take this relatively lean bird and stuff him with this gorged duck liver
• Lamb Chops (8/10) Just two perfectly pink lamb chops with a tarragon aioli
• The mousse is encased by a gossamer thin candy
• After a few bites I was left with hard candy remnants finding spots to bunch up in my mouth
• (7/10) Bread and butter pudding with passion fruit sorbet
• The passion fruit here was insanely assertive and subsequently the best part of the dessert
• The last post on this blog was about Dickie Fitz
• I would have enjoyed my meal there even if I was already familiar with things like "
• Baked eggplant with tofu and miso"
• The quality of the cooking combined with the thrill of discovering something new made it all that much more memorable
• I think I may have finally found somewhere that is truly exciting
• Intimate package with lots of room for improvement &ndash
• Is exciting in itself as there is so much more to give
• Duende is located slap bang in the centre of Covent Garden taking over a small space that was once CafeProper &ndash
• S much smaller and could do with some extra cash spent in a few areas
• Tiny place with absolutely divine food we tried quite a few of the dishes on the menu and each was better the next
• The atmosphere is just awesome
