Kettner's is a fantastic place with so much variety
-
The champagne bar is a fun place to congregate whilst waiting for your table and food is pretty delicious
-
If you are a large crowd there are private dining rooms you can book
-
The service is also a little slow and snooty
-
It was the second time I have dined at Kettners restaurant and like the other time I have been here I was not disappointed at all
-
It was welcoming in the same fashion the way it was the last time
-
Visiting this restaurant one feels they are being transported to a glamorous by gone age
-
There is no rush to decide on what to eat and drink and they are always ready with suggestions should you be unsure
-
To top it off the value of the meal is fantastic (bit pricey if no occasions) and one can see that although it is purse friendly there has been no cutbacks on the quality of the food
-
I wasn't disappointed with the perfect marriage of a fillet steak &
-
Kettners is a corner building painted in clean white paint with black trimmed edges and corners gives a colonial look from the Malayan days
-
They had figured out that we were not big on consuming drinks in the afternoon
-
Game terrine with fig chutney GBP 8.95&ndash
-
Smoked salmon with whole wheat blinis GBP 9.95 &ndash
-
Neatly presented with unselfish amount of smoked salmon made it look appealing to the palate
-
Kettner's tart of the day salmon and spinach tart with simple salad GBP6.95 &ndash
-
The salmon itself was very salty
-
The pastry was slightly undercooked on the bottom of the tart
-
Yellow fin tuna with hard boiled egg and anchovies GBP13.95 &ndash
-
Peppered salmon with creamed leeks GBP 13.95
-
I visited Kettners in soho with the hopes of experiencing the best of the British cuisine
-
Starters I ordered the Chicken liver parfait with bread which was basically a small bit of toast next to a minature portion of chicken liver
-
I thought maybe they just don't want to spoil my appetite for the mains and too be fair the liver was actually good which made me more frustrated at the small portion served
-
When presented with mains which was the Gressingham duck breast I have to say I was satisfied with the portion
-
Nothing to really shout about but it was all a bit over priced
-
Let's start with the cocktails
-
I like a nice atmosphere in a restaurant and if the food and service are good it makes everything perfect
-
The service was good but my duck was not exceptional
-
It was probably the best I had in a while
-
Sticky toffee pudding with the nicest roast peanut ice cream
-
This review is for the champagne and cocktail bar as I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet
-
Kettner's (Soho) is beautifully decorated and has an amazing history (ask the staff about why the secret tunnel to the theatre across the road was built)
-
We sat near the bar and were transfixed by the mixologist's skills
-
With that being said the Champagne bar in Soho seemed the perfect place for the House of Laurent Perrier to serve their gorgeous afternoon tea with matching champagne flight
-
Sat in one of Kettner's beautifully appointed private rooms with six fellow food bloggers
-
Agatha Christie and Bing Crosby were regulars and even King Edward VII courted his mistress
-
With the history lesson over it was time for tea
-
S rather grand home with a sweeping staircase before you (leading up to first floor function rooms)
-
The beautiful parquet flooring is well worn and the marble table tops look like they could tell a story or two
-
Is instantly comfortable (further helped by the abundance of waiting staff who all acknowledged me as I was taken through to our table)
-
While I had Scotch beef carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise
-
I homed in on the seared yellow fin tuna (lovely chilli and aniseed flavours in the searing crumb) with green beans
-
The service is a bit slow and sometimes even though u made a reservation
-
When food finally came it was quite good
-
The waiters are friendly and prompt
-
Been here several times and food has always been excellent and the desserts are just a marvel
-
The Soho institution is housed in four Grade II listed Georgian townhouses and originally opened in 1867 by Napoleon III's chef Auguste Kettner
-
Kettners is a sprawling Soho institution with an impressive pedigree that has evolved through the decades
-
I really wish there was some kind of integration between Zomato and Tastecard
-
Not that she is old in any way &ndash
-
In better shape and packs more into her life than I do (and I thought my London lifestyle was pretty hectic
