Aziz (Oxford)

• On the menu there are choices that would not often be on other menus which can work in their favour
• Aziz (Oxford) is immensly popular
• It is often hard to get a table here without booking a reservation that was not the case this time
• Regardless it was apparent from a look around at the classical decor along with a taste of the food why it was so
• Aziz does not look like most Indian restaurants by foregoing the paintings and elaborate decorations often associated with them and going for a traditional castle esque layout
• They use high quality produce in cooking and combine them with well proportioned masalas
• Close to almost bursting as per usual with Indian cooking (save for the greasy feeling which was absent)
• Sunday in Oxford meant it was time for an all you can eat
• They did very well with their buffet selection
• The curries that they had were all fairly mild to medium none were avertly spicy
• The spiciest one was the bombay potatoes
• Is surprising as often the vegetarian curries are reserved as the mildest of the lot
• Other notable aspects were a good selection of entrees not opting for simple deep fried fodder
• A brightly coloured salad bar (though I did not have any) and a dessert bar adorned with fruits and desserts from both India and the West (finicky diners
• With my one gripe being one authentic Indian dessert that was coloured bright orange
• The service was good enough here
• It lives up to its hype and is worth bringing people for an inaugural meal
